Dürr Megtec spray dryer absorber (SDA) technology provides effective control of SOx and HCl by the injection of finely atomized alkaline slurries into the gas stream. With our semi-dry scrubber technology, all water evaporates so there is no liquid waste stream, unlike wet scrubbers.

Operating principle Spray Dryer Absorber

Dürr Megtec SDA technology provides effective control of SOx (SO2 reduction/SO3 reduction) and HCl by the injection of finely atomized alkaline slurries into the gas stream. Unlike wet scrubbers, all water is evaporated, with no liquid waste stream generated.

Dürr Megtec SDAs utilize Turbotak atomizing nozzles to spray finely atomized alkaline slurries, such as calcium, sodium, or potassium-based slurries, into the gas stream. Contaminants are absorbed into the droplets, which quickly evaporate leaving the contaminants trapped in dry particles for collection by a downstream fabric filter or ESP.

Our SDAs are capable of simultaneously removing SO2 (90%) and HCl (>99%) with high efficiencies.
